Making your garden summer ready

Whilst we may only be in February, summer is not so far away, and as we approach spring there are lots of ways you can ensure your garden is ready for a vibrant, fun, and hot summer ahead. In this blog, we talk about small changes you can make to your garden before summer that will elevate your garden and make your summer much better!

Add soft furnishings

The British weather is known for being extremely unpredictable, meaning that outdoor furniture has to be extremely durable and hard-wearing to last. However, this can often be very unwelcoming and unappealing. This year we recommend introducing soft furnishings into your garden that can either be taken inside at the end of the day or have weatherproofing, which means they can be outside all summer and return inside before winter hits. Cushions, throws, rugs, and much, much more can help bring the inside out and ensure you spend as much time outdoors as possible!

Create a quiet space

If you are aiming to create your own outdoor haven in your garden this year, a quiet space for contemplation is essential. Implementing this doesn’t have to cost the earth; a simple hammock, hanging egg chair, or bench facing a view or shaded by a tree could all provide the perfect space for creating a feeling of serenity and wellness. In addition to this, the introduction of this space provides a perfect focal point for your garden design, creating a win-win!

Go exotic with your plants this year

Our recommendation to you this year is to go bold and exotic with your plants – try something different and steer away from subtle alternatives. Bringing a touch of exotic into your garden space through plants will really help to create that tropical haven feeling. Similarly, if you are on a budget and your fencing is looking tired, or you are sick of seeing your neighbours' unsightly conservatory, the use of large plants can act as a screen and bring the focus back onto your own garden haven.

Outdoor bars and kitchens

In one of our previous blogs, we discussed the increase in demand for outdoor bars and kitchens, and this could be a great addition to your home this year. Outdoor kitchens and bars will encourage you to spend more time outdoors and enable you to reap the benefits for both your mental and physical health. No matter the budget, these can be added to your garden in many ways, from upcycling old pallets to implementing a full outdoor kitchen, there is an option for everyone.
