There can only be a handful of things more personal and stressful than building a home. Each homeowner has very specific requirements, for example, accessibility for elderly family members, or including luxury features such as gyms, spas and pools. For example, one of our clients in Lancashire required a large luxury home with the living space totalling 9,200 sq ft. Included in the client brief was a leisure suite, to be located on the ground floor, comprising a gym and swimming pool, to overlook the rear garden. In order to meet the client's requirements, Arc Design Services recommended that the build should be constructed out of ICF, due to its innovative, energy-efficient qualities and delivery of Super U-values, as well as the speed of build. Moreover, ICF not only delivers the technical and legal specifications required in terms of quality and eco-credentials for new build properties, but also enables Arc Design Services to create beautiful aesthetics and finish to the exterior of a home, which meets modern day tastes and requirements, as well as being able to construct projects in a timely manner.

Another detail considered in the design was the lighting, which comprised halogen ceiling lights used to accentuate features in the ceilings and other spaces. For this client, Arc Design Services also included the addition of underfloor heating, which is known to distribute heat more evenly, actually needing water at a lower heat than a radiator and therefore making boilers more efficient and prolonging the life-cycle.

Furthermore, interesting design features on the interior and exterior highlighted key areas to create defined spaces for people and place to combine in harmony, whilst optimising particular unique features, such as the modern approach to a chimney, which incorporated an outside fireplace, as well as an internal one. Arc Design Services also considered finishings for the windows and door frames, and selected powder-coated aluminium to provide added protection that has the guarantee of a life-cycle of 15, 25 or even up to 40 years, which is significantly higher than other materials.
