The organisation revealed its planned initiative at a Right to Build Summit held on 12th April at the UK Parliament’s House of Commons.
The Custom and Self Build Task Force would work with local authorities to implement the Right to Build policy, and whilst currently in its initial consultation stage, intends to be an instrumental factor in successfully boosting the custom build sector in the UK building and architecture sector. During the summit, it was announced that 12, 500 custom and self build were completed in 2015, which represents year on year growth of 6 per cent.
Summit hosts detailed the work that would be undertaken by the new Task Force, which would include building upon the Custom & Self Build Toolkit. The Toolkit was set up in 2015, and funded by The Nationwide Foundation to provide detailed technical advice on how local authorities can better support those - such as Arc Design Services and our clients - who want to build bespoke homes. The summit also saw the announcement of a new website launch, righttobuildportal.org, which promotes compliant NaCSBA approved demand registers, making securing a plot for self and custom builders and easier process.
Here at Arc Design Services, we’re pleased to see further support for those who have the ambition to commission their dream individual home. The announcement of a potential Task Force is more good news for our sector, and follows on from new legislation that came into force on 1st April 2016 that will help homeowners overcome obstacles to achieve dream property.
The legislation, known as the Custom & Self Build Demand Register, is now a legal requirement in England and means that local authorities have a responsibly to permission sufficient plots of land to meet the requirement expressed by these builders. Arc Design Services has designed and built a wide range of new build properties across the North West, Greater Manchester and South Manchester, included a home which was “Highly Commended” at the LABC Building Excellence Awards.
There are so many ways that you can customise a home. For information on new builds and home enhancements, please call Arc Design Services on 0161 928 4433.
