The council guidance is currently catalogued in 230 separate documents and around 7,000 pages long. It is often too complex for people to access and navigate effectively.
So it is a welcome change that the government are launching planning practice guidelines to assist. The government hope the planning practice will “provide support for growth with the creation of jobs and homes that the country needs”. It is hoped that by giving the power back to communities who know the local area best, it will provide clearer protections for the natural and historic environment.
