Everyone wants to have the tallest building in the world, but what about the longest? That’s exactly what New York and Athens based architect, Oiio, was thinking when they conceptualised this new skyscraper. New York architects have long been competing and looking for ways to add height in their skyscrapers. But with laws on air rights and zoning laws, it hasn’t been easy.

The building is set to be placed on what is known as Billionaire’s Row on 57th Street next to Central Park. At the moment, each side of the building is planed to be on either side of another building on Billionaire’s Row. This allows architects to work around the cities zoning laws.

The skyscraper itself will be a slender structure that will curve at the height of the structure then return back to the ground. This will make the skyscraper 4,000 feet long from end to end - nearly two times as large as the world’s current tallest building, The Burj Khalifa in Dubai. To accommodate this wonderful structure, the lift system will move horizontally, vertically, in loops, and in curves. The Big Bend design is similar to Viñoly’s skyscraper with a grid of large windows but will have smaller floorplates.
